Mädchen Amick (born December 12, 1970) is an American actress who rose to prominence in the early 1990s. Her name "Mädchen" means "girl" in German, though she was born in Sparks, Nevada. Her most iconic role came in 1990 when David Lynch cast her as Shelly Johnson in the cult classic series "Twin Peaks." The waitress character became one of the show's most beloved roles, and Amick's performance helped launch her career. She works to reduce stigma around mental health conditions and promote better understanding and support.

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).
