He studied theater at LSU with John Dennis and worked on the early film work of Steven Soderbergh, culminating with Schizopolis a low-budget comedy in the spirit of Richard Lester and Bunuel. He is known for The Mist, Midnight Special, Benjamin Button, and Love Song for Bobby Long.
