Nick Roeten (b. 1987)

Birthplace:
The Hague, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands

Born:
August 6, 1987

Nick Roeten is a stunt performer born and raised in the city of The Hague (The Netherlands). Nick has been into sports all his life such as karate, gymnastics, judo just to name a few. At the young age of 12 Nick got the highest degree you can get in Go-Ju-Kai karate at this age. Even after karate he has always been fascinated in martial arts and gymnastics. He found a sport that combines martial arts and gymnastics, it is called tricking. He used to train a lot by himself, but after he went to San Jose, California in 2008 where he met one of the best trickers out there, he started to train with Guillermo 'KJER' Bongers (team StreetTrickz). Since then he has progressed his skills, while learning from the best. Tricking put him in touch with many different people, from stunt performers to actors and a lot people alike. These people helped him get in to the film industry.  That is how he came in contact with stunt team Hammy de Beukelaer. After training with this amazing stunt team he got the opportunity to do this line of work at the age of 22. Stunt team Hammy de Beukelaer is the best Dutch stunt team there is. They provide national and international stunts of the highest level, with over 50 years of combined expertise in this industry lead by Willem de Beukelaer and Marco Maas. Nick still works closely with stunt team Hammy de Beukelaer. With their support he is still is growing in the stunt industry.  In 2013 discovered that there was a British Stunt Register in the United Kingdom, after a lot of consideration he decided to train for it. The requirements were that you need to have 6 certified qualifications and at least 60 days in front of camera as an actor or supporting artist. It took 1 year and 4 months to complete his training. That means almost everyday was dedicated to training and work as an supporting artist. The different disciplines he trained for were: Karate High Diving Gymnastics Trampoline PADI Dive Master SPA (Rock Climbing)  On 9th of July 2015 Nick managed to get on the British Stunt Register, and now he is a proud member of the British Stunt Register.  Nick's first T.V appearance was on a Dutch T.V show, a small part with big consequences. From that day on he has appeared national (The Netherlands) and international production for films, live theatre, commercials and many more as a stunt performer.

About the Movie Section

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).

Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

  • If you would like your profile removed from this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's gone from their site, it should soon be gone from this site.
  • If you would like to correct movie data on this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's corrected on their site, it should soon be corrected on this site.
  • For additional corrections and profile removals, please e-mail The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.

Whether or not he still clings to an award which he won in 1986 as a film critic for his college's newspaper, Jeffrey Hartmann is not responsible for the texts of overviews and biographies supplied by external data sources.
