A work in constant progress (and occasional regress).

Born in Ethiopia in 2007, Yobdee Marazzi is a rising star in the entertainment industry, making waves as an Ethiopian-Canadian film and television actress, as well as a dynamic dancer. Known for her role as Palesa in "ICE" and for her captivating guest appearances in films like "Travellers," "The Healing Powers of Dude" Yobdee continues to shine on screen. She most recently dazzled audiences as Maya in Netflix's hit series "Virgin River" Season 4. Yobdee's journey in the performing arts began at the tender age of seven when she landed her first acting role as a series regular in the pilot for "Mix" (2015). Her early passion for floor routines as a competitive gymnast naturally transitioned into a love for dance, where she has trained extensively in hip hop, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, and musical theatre in Vancouver, LA, and NY. Yobdee has earned numerous hip hop awards and is equally committed to performing for local and national charities. Her talents extend beyond the screen, with appearances in over 13 commercials and features in notable publications like News Scene Magazine, where she was spotlighted in the article "Yobdee on Her Successful Dance Career and Learning Archery for Netflix’s ‘Virgin River’." Currently, Yobdee is honing her vocal skills, aiming to conquer the musical theatre stage next. Yobdee's overall dream as an actor is to use her talents to bring a character's story to life and share it with others. In her spare time, she enjoys a variety of activities, including reading, singing, playing volleyball and soccer, decorating her room, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).
Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).
At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.
Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)
While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:
Regarding profile removals and data corrections:
Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
