The peak of martial arts is loneliness, solitude, a long search, and the cold at the top. Growing in adversity, surviving in dire straits, and being relentless in the pursuit of power—only then can one break through the ultimate path of martial arts. Yang Kai, a trial disciple and janitor of the Lingxiao Pavilion, stumbles upon a mysterious black book without words, and from then on begins his long journey in martial arts.

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).
