Aleksandr Yefimovich Zeldovich (Russian: Александр Ефимович Зельдович; born 4 December, 1958; Moscow) is a Russian filmmaker, theater director and screenwriter. One of the cult Russian filmmakers. A curious feature of Zeldovich career is that since 1990, his feature films have been released exactly once of every 10 years, at the beginning of each decade. In 1980, he graduated from the Faculty of Psychology of Moscow State University. In 1986, he graduated from the Higher Courses of Screenwriters and Directors (the workshop of Gleb Panfilov and Alexander Mitta). Since 1986 - director of the Mosfilm Film Studio. He made his debut in the big cinema in 1990 with the film "Sunset" - a fantasy on the themes of Isaac Babel. The film was shown in the non-competitive program of numerous festivals, as well as at the Berlin Film Festival (participation in the "Forum" program). In 2000, Zeldovich presented his film "Moscow" based on a script written in collaboration with famous russian writer Vladimir Sorokin. The film, which has become an event of Russian cinema, participated in the official program of the Venice Film Festival ("Cinema del Presente" competition program) and many other. The premiere of the film "Target" (2011), also created according to the script in collaboration with Vladimir Sorokin, took place at the Berlin Film Festival (participation in the "Panorama" program). The fourth full-length film "Medea" (2021) was part of the official competition program at Locarno Film Festival.

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).
Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).
At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.
Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)
While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:
Regarding profile removals and data corrections:
Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
Whether or not he still clings to an award which he won in 1986 as a film critic for his college's newspaper, Jeffrey Hartmann is not responsible for the texts of overviews and biographies supplied by external data sources.
