A work in constant progress (and occasional regress).
Alias:
Hrishant Goswami
Hrit Hrishant (Goswami) is a multifaceted creative force—film director, screenwriter, lyricist, and poet. Born in Kolkata, the cultural heart of India, Hrit’s artistic journey began early with a deep love for Bengali literature, which continues to shape his voice and vision. Though academically trained in Psychology, his heart has always belonged to poetry, cinema, and storytelling. He started writing poems at the age of nine and self-published his debut poetry collection, Samay Holo Je Jabar, in 2023. Since then, he has released several other books, available on various online platforms. Hrit's cinematic journey began with his directorial debut in 2017. That same year, he founded the musical band Soulmate, where he contributed as a lyricist and guitarist. Though the band later disbanded, it added a unique layer to his artistic portfolio. By 2018, he was working as an assistant director on Bengali mega-serials, gaining valuable experience in the world of television. In 2019, he launched his production house, BluemindS Production, focusing on independent, thought-provoking cinema. While he doesn’t formally consider himself an actor, Hrit has appeared in numerous theatre productions and films—roles that have been well received. His affinity for performance often draws him back to the stage and screen. He believes, > “A good director creates an environment which gives an actor the courage to fly.” Hrishant is also the co-owner of Hritati Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., alongside Bratati Banerjee. This venture spans across publishing, event management, photography, and more, reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit. His work—whether on the page, behind the camera, or in front of it—is known for emotional depth, introspection, and social awareness. His psychology background lends nuance to his artistic lens, helping him explore the complexities of human emotion with rare sensitivity. Over the years, Hrit has received numerous awards at prestigious film festivals for his contributions to both literature and cinema. Admired not only for his creative output but also for his thoughtful and philosophical perspective, he remains a rising voice in contemporary Bengali culture. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hrit extended his impact beyond the arts. He founded an NGO to support the poor and unemployed, and as the General Secretary of the International Social Welfare Organization of Jiyonkathi, he helped many during challenging times. He is also known for his bold, thought-provoking quotes that reflect his worldview and artistic ideology: > “If the revolution is never born in the heart of the exploited people, this world is just a football.” “The opposite of right is not always wrong. My friend, sometimes it is left too.” Hrit Hrishant continues to inspire with his layered storytelling and commitment to meaningful, socially conscious art. His journey stands as a testament to how passion, intellect, and empathy can combine to shape a powerful creative legacy.
Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).
Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).
At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.
Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)
While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:
Regarding profile removals and data corrections:
Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
Whether or not he still clings to an award which he won in 1986 as a film critic for his college's newspaper, Jeffrey Hartmann is not responsible for the texts of overviews and biographies supplied by external data sources.
