Charlotte Verminck, the creative force behind Above The Nerve, was born and raised in Belgium, and has been captivated by the art of visual and written storytelling since childhood. With a camera always in hand, Charlotte's journey began at the tender age of ten, when she first discovered the transformative power of film editing. Her Shih Tzu, a cherished muse, starred in her earliest projects, reflecting a lifelong passion for storytelling. Charlotte’s cinematic voice is defined by her poetic exploration of the human psyche. Her work blends naturalism with a distinctive visual elegance, often hovering between quiet intimacy and bold expression. Each frame is crafted to invite connection, contemplation, and transformation. Holding a Bachelor's Degree in International Communication and Media, Charlotte served - at just 17 years old - as a video artist and creative director for renowned Belgian musician and artist Ozark Henry, with whom she co-founded the innovative arthouse, SOH. Her commitment to film was solidified during an internship at a prestigious Hollywood production company, leading to her award-winning video poem 'Pathless'. Most recently, her narrative short film 'Mind of Thoughts' premiered at the 25th Beverly Hills Film Festival to raving feedback. A layered psychological exploration of the silent unraveling within - where identity fractures beneath the weight of expectation and internalized doubt - the film captivated audiences at the TCL Chinese Theatres with its raw emotion, poetic imagery, and evocative storytelling. Charlotte employed and directed a diverse team of over 50 people, while shooting the film across Belgium, France, and the Netherlands - a bold undertaking that mirrors the film’s fearless spirit. Just a week after its premiere, Mind of Thoughts was awarded Best International Film at BHIFF 2025, a recognition that affirmed its artistic and emotional impact. Now on the festival circuit, Mind of Thoughts has further solidified Charlotte's voice as a bold and emotionally resonant filmmaker with an instinct for intimate, female-centered stories and a fearless willingness to dive into life’s most complex layers. Driven by her belief in the power of curiosity and perseverance, Charlotte founded Above The Nerve Productions to create a nurturing space where talent is valued, respected, and allowed to flourish. Charlotte’s commitment to fostering a thoughtful, warm, and collaborative environment is central to her vision. She champions connection, equality, and persistence, believing that true beauty lies in authenticity and can lead to groundbreaking achievements. Her philosophy embraces life’s challenges and triumphs, underscoring her belief that together, we can conquer the highest peaks.

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).
Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).
At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.
Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)
While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:
Regarding profile removals and data corrections:
Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
Whether or not he still clings to an award which he won in 1986 as a film critic for his college's newspaper, Jeffrey Hartmann is not responsible for the texts of overviews and biographies supplied by external data sources.
