TO Chun-him, born in Hong Kong, graduated from the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong and is currently engaged in directing and screenwriting. In 2021, he founded Yea Juk Production, focusing on producing short films, motion graphics design, and advertisements, dedicated to injecting new vitality into the Hong Kong film and television industry.  In 2018, TO's graduation project "17 years" won the UA Cinemas Outstanding Movie Award from the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong. The project was nominated for multiple international film festivals, including the 2018 Formosa Festival of International Filmmaker Awards, the 1st Global University Film Awards, and the Future Roads Cross-Strait cum Hong Kong and Macao College Student Film Festival 2018. Additionally, the work was invited by the Hong Kong media organization "Initium Media" for a public screening.  In 2020, he directed the episode "Merry-Christmas" for the Hong Kong Radio Television new director drama series "Floating City". In 2022, his short film "FLY" won the Silver Award of the “Best Microfilm Production Award” in The 9th Microfilm Production Support Scheme (Music), and was nominated for several international film festivals, including the 28th ifva Awards - Open Category, MINIKINO FILM WEEK 8, the 20th GwangHwaMun International Short Film Festival, and the Beijing International Short Film Festival 2022.  In 2023, his work "Overman" won the Bronze Award of the “Best Microfilm Production Award at the 10th Microfilm Production Support Scheme (Music), and was nominated for the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival "Making Waves – Navigators of Hong Kong Cinema," the 27th LA Shorts International Film Festival, the 29th ifva Awards - Open Category, and the Beijing International Short Film Festival 2023 - NOVA Competition.  Recently, TO Chun-him is preparing a new short film "Once upon a time there was a mountain," which is an award-winning project of the International Film Camp - Asian Film Awards Academy.

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
