Ivonne Balcuba is a 21-year-old aspiring filmmaker currently pursuing her AB Communication degree at De La Salle University – Dasmariñas (DLSU-D). At the helm of her creative journey is her brainchild, IVOИNE Films. In October 2020, Ivonne introduced herself with "Kuya, Clara," a poignant quaranfilm that she both wrote and directed in collaboration with OИSCREEN Films. The narrative focused on gender acceptance and featured the talented performances of Ana Sirot and Jeffrey Ituriaga. Following this success, Ivonne ventured into the intricate landscape of relationships with her December 2020 release, "Kwentong Pelikula: Sam & Marco." This film, starring Lovelee Delima and Jioaquim Reyes, demonstrated Ivonne's commitment to diverse storytelling. April 2022 saw the release of "Patior," Ivonne's third project co-written by and starring her colleague, Jayson Ababa, alongside Jannah Laureano. The film delved into themes of confronting reality and overcoming the fear of losing one's aspirations.  In December 2023, Ivonne took a major step with her fourth project, "Among Us," which explored the hazards of meeting strangers online, diving into the consequences of seeking novel forms of entertainment. Starring Dexter Stephenson, Jannah Laureano, and Kate Cubcubin, "Among Us" received acclaim, becoming a nominee at international festivals such as the Imo International Film Festival (ImoIFF) 2023 in Nigeria and the 2024 Lift Off Global Film Festival in United Kingdom. Simultaneously, Ivonne spearheaded "Project Milagrosa," a mockumentary film addressing fanaticism and false beliefs. Directed by Ivonne, with Pat Sarmiento as the writer, and produced with Alas Tres Cuatro Production, the film clinched seven major awards at DLSU-D's Gawad Tala 2023, including Best Story and Best Screenplay. In addition to her major projects, In the same year, Ivonne's filmography boasted impactful short films such as "Third Eye" and "Captured”, the latter serving as DLSU-D’s official entry to IP Academy’s Festival of Stories. Ivonne has also lent her talents to collaborative projects, contributing as a writer, director, or part of the production team in films like "Ang Mahuli Taya" and PelikuLasalliano 2023 entries "I" and "Denunciation."

About the Movie Section

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).

Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

  • If you would like your profile removed from this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's gone from their site, it should soon be gone from this site.
  • If you would like to correct movie data on this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's corrected on their site, it should soon be corrected on this site.
  • For additional corrections and profile removals, please e-mail The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
