René Vrábel, a force to be reckoned with, blurs the lines between actor a stun man, bringing a fresh and dynamic perspective to physically demanding roles. His journey began in the realm of medicine, but the magnetic pull of the stage proved too strong to resist, prompting him to abandon his studies and pursue his true passion.  The spotlight found René through his electrifying portrayal of a Muay Thai fighter and bodyguard in the groundbreaking TV series "Specialiste." His undeniable talent didn't stop there; he skyrocketed to fame as the enigmatic mercenary Duval in the adrenaline-fueled thriller "The Peripheral," starring alongside the indomitable Chloë Grace Moretz.  René's prowess as a performer is a testament to his extraordinary physical skills and athleticism. With a diverse background encompassing Muay Thai, break dancing, and a multitude of sports, he consistently pushes the boundaries of what is conceivable on the silver screen. Adept in the art of firearms, he fearlessly tackles an array of challenging and action-packed roles, leaving audiences captivated.  But René is not content with limiting his talents to acting and fitness alone; he embarks on a parallel journey as a skilled writer, nurturing his creative and artistic spirit through dedicated studies at the prestigious LAMDA in London. There, he refines his skills, broadens his horizons, and explores new depths of storytelling under the guidance of luminous mentors and abundant resources.  Unyielding in his pursuit of excellence, René Vrábel embodies the essence of dedication and unbridled passion. Each project he undertakes is infused with boundless energy, intensity, and an unwavering commitment to authenticity. Whether he's embodying a martial artist, a valiant soldier, or any other physically demanding character, René ignites the screen with an electrifying presence that leaves audiences breathless.  With his unique background, extraordinary skill set, and an insatiable love for his craft, René Vrábel is poised to continue his ascent to greatness. Prepare to witness the rise of a true artistic force, as this magnetic talent surges forward, leaving an indelible mark on the cinematic landscape for years to come.

About the Movie Section

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).

Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

  • If you would like your profile removed from this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's gone from their site, it should soon be gone from this site.
  • If you would like to correct movie data on this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's corrected on their site, it should soon be corrected on this site.
  • For additional corrections and profile removals, please e-mail The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
