A work in constant progress (and occasional regress).

Lisa Brown is an American author, executive producer, and wardrobe stylist. After being shot in a domestic violence situation in 2017, Ms. Brown published her first novel, "He Played Me," based on her true-life story. Spending 20 weeks on Amazon's best-seller list, "He Played Me" was eventually transformed into film, produced by Ms. Brown, with the hopes of her story empowering women across the world, "To Turn Their Pain, Into Their Purpose"! Ms. Brown has gone on to publish several other books including: "Let It Go Sis! It's Time to Move On!", a self-healing book which also made Amazon's Bestseller's List. In February 2022 Ms. Brown released her second feature film titled "These Men for Everybody". As the Writer, Director, Executive Producer and Stylist of "These Men for Everybody", Ms. Brown discovered her creative side and developed a passion for film production. She recently completed the production of "The Dirty D", a television series centered around a nightclub in Detroit, scheduled for release Summer 2022. Her upcoming projects include, "He Played Me Part 2" and several untitled projects. Along with her professional accomplishments, Ms. Brown is a dedicated community activist. In 2016, she founded Promise, a nonprofit organization. The organization's mission is aimed to help individuals in disadvantaged, urban communities, overcome the challenges they may face when seeking employment by providing job training and educational resources needed to overcome those obstacles, empowering them to build a better life for themselves and their families. In her free time Ms. Brown loves to read, travel, and spend quality time with her two children.

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).
Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).
At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.
Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)
While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:
Regarding profile removals and data corrections:
Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
Whether or not he still clings to an award which he won in 1986 as a film critic for his college's newspaper, Jeffrey Hartmann is not responsible for the texts of overviews and biographies supplied by external data sources.
