DeShawn is a Chicago-based, celebrity makeup artist. For over twenty years her work has graced the stages of theater, commercials, film, and television. Some of her clients and projects include: New York Fashion Week, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Goodman Theatre, Jordan Peele’s Candyman, Fargo – Season 4, The Chi, Genius Aretha, Academy Award nominee, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Jordan Peele’s Lovecraft Country, Chicago PD, Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Shining Girls, Justified: City Primeval, The Watchful Eye, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Attorney General of Chicago, Kwame Raoul, Sean Hayes, Keith David, and most recently, Emmy Award Winner, Courtney B. Vance. Deshawn is also a recent graduate of the cosmetology school. She is a licensed esthetician with a high focus on skin care which allows for optimal results of any makeup application. She has a B.A. in Communications from the University of Detroit-Mercy and is currently in the MFA program at Johns Hopkins University.

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
