Patricio Escartín is a Mexican filmmaker who directed The Noise of Time (2024), a documentary short film that has been selected for nearly 15 festivals worldwide. The film has earned multiple nominations and distinctions, including recognition from El Universal diary as part of "The Best of Mexican Cinema 2024."  Currently, Patricio is in his eighth semester of a Cinematography degree at the National School of Cinematographic Arts (ENAC) in Mexico, but nowadays he studies in the University of Essex, United Kingdom, through the UNAM exchange program. His filmmaking journey began with The Bastard Son (2019), his debut short film, which has garnered over 7,000 views on YouTube. That same year, his research in cinema earned him First Place in UNAM’s Youth Research Program at the National High School of UNAM. Patricio later studied at UNAM’s Dramatic Literature and Theatre College while gaining hands-on industry experience as a production assistant at companies like Guayabo Films and Landia, contributing to the production of music videos. During the pandemic, he furthered his education through online film courses before joining ENAC in 2021.  He has been actively involved in various student and independent short films, taking on multiple roles, including Director of Photography (DP), Production Designer, Producer, Editor, Sound Designer, and Assistant Director (AD).

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
