Amelia Conway

Amelia Elizabeth Conway was born on October 1, 1987 in Wahroonga, New South Wales, to British & Australian parents. Her mother, Edwina Conway, was a model and her father, Tony Conway, moved to Australia at 18. He built himself a successful career in electrical construction. Amelia comes from a family of four children, one younger brother and two older sisters, however the first born sister died as a baby from SIDS, Amelia never got to meet her.  Amelia graduated from Pymble Ladies College (PLC) in Sydney in 2005. Prior to that she attended Turramurra Public School but moved to PLC in year 5. At her new school Amelia took an interest in dancing and acting, taking part in school plays & musicals, dance competitions and the Rock Eisteddfod.  Amelia had to choose an elective for her year 12 HSC (Higher School Certificate). It was between drama and fashion design, she chose fashion, thinking she wanted to be a fashion designer. Her final work received high scores and Amelia went on to complete a Bachelor of Fashion Design at UTS (University of Technology, Sydney), completed in 2009. After graduation she worked as graphic textile designer and re-toucher for many years, include a 12 month stint at Australian active wear label Running Bare. Amelia then completed her second undergrad degree, a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) with Swinburne University in 2018.  Amelia's first big screen role was as lead female 'Laura' in Bad Influence by Andreas Toumbas. She then landed the comedic role of 'Louise' in indie quirky feature 'Friends & Strangers' by James Vaughn. Since 2018, Amelia left the fashion industry and has focused solely on acting, and it is now her full-time profession. She has had success in TVCs and indie productions in Sydney and short films in LA.  Amelia has studied the US accent with Linda Nicholls-Gidley, Natasha McNamara and Barbara Hastings, as well as auditioning and performing in several US short films. Amelia can also perform a Modern British (Modern RP) Accent. Amelia takes joy in and is experienced in improvisation, comedic and dramatic, having been a part of her theatre sports team at school; she then went on to study with Laugh Masters Academy (LMA) and Improv Theatre Sydney (ITS).  Amelia is also a keen writer and has directed her own comedy web-series 'Roller Coaster Testers' set for release late 2022.  Amelia's career may have started later than most actors but she works three times as hard and her agent refers to her as one of the most hard working actors in Sydney. There is still lots more great projects to come her way and we look forward to seeing what is next for Amelia.

The Search Form

About the Movie Section

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).

Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

  • If you would like your profile removed from this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's gone from their site, it should soon be gone from this site.
  • If you would like to correct movie data on this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's corrected on their site, it should soon be corrected on this site.
  • For additional corrections and profile removals, please e-mail The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
