Umut Evirgen was born in Istanbul in 1990. He studied business at Berkeley College and finished his M.A. in film and television at Istanbul Bilgi University. His first short film Fine Dying was selected to the 33rd Edmonton Film Festival (Oscar Qualifying). He established Set Sanat Production Company to bring to life his own projects in 2019. His first feature film I am the Sea, which he wrote and directed, was invited to the Rhode Island and Edmonton Film Festivals and made its debut at the Adana Golden Boll Film Festival. His second feature film, Meeting Point, premiered at the 37th Warsaw International Film Festival in 2021. Mommy’s Lambie, his third feature film, made its Turkish premiere at the 30th Adana Golden Boll Film Festival and was awarded Best Supporting Actor and Best Art Direction. Mommy’s Lambie will make its international premiere in November 2023 at the 54th International Film Festival of India, Goa.
