A work in constant progress (and occasional regress).
Birthplace:
Graz, Austria
Born:
November 17, 1965
Bernhard Floedl was born in Austria in 1965 and settled in Manila, Philippines in 1985, but all along kept a second residence in Austria. Until the mid-1990s he worked as an actor on various B-movies and during this time was able to work with well-known stars like Chuck Norris, Richard Harris, Donald Pleasance, Susan Sarandon, Robert Davi and Richard Hatch, just to name a few. He appeared in 30 International productions and some locally produced films as a supporting actor, but also did 3 films in which he had second lead roles. While staying in contact with Hollywood insiders he later became a business man and worked as a trading consultant in close contact with major Philippine Corporations like Philippine Airlines. Through the last 30 years Bernhard Floedl also indulged in vintage American muscle car restoration as a hobby restoring priceless American muscle cars and building a collection. As a die-hard cinema enthusiast he never lost his passion for film. As he encountered some young, talented Filipino filmmakers he decided to venture into producing and co-directing his first full length documentary entitled "MotiV8tion". Around 2005 he also became an avid art collector who has since built an impressive collection of European and South East Asian Art. In the near future he plans to build his own private art museum in Austria.
Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).
Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).
At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.
Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)
While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:
Regarding profile removals and data corrections:
Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
Whether or not he still clings to an award which he won in 1986 as a film critic for his college's newspaper, Jeffrey Hartmann is not responsible for the texts of overviews and biographies supplied by external data sources.
