Kelly Jones is a writer for television, radio and the stage. She is the writer and executive producer of ITV series A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story. Starring Lucy Boynton and Toby Jones, the series tells the true story of the last woman to be hanged in the UK. Kelly previously developed and wrote the four-part ITV crime drama The Long Call, based on the novel by Ann Cleeves. Other credits include acclaimed ITV drama Des starring David Tennant, and BBC One crime thriller Baptiste. Kelly has also written on The Spanish Princess, Call The Midwife, and Our Girl, and was previously a core writer on Casualty. Kelly recently wrote an episode for the second upcoming series of Hijack, and is currently working on series for Apple TV+ and Sky. She holds a Masters degree in English from Oxford University, where she specialised in Dickens and film adaptation, and has studied screenwriting at the New York Film Academy.
