A work in constant progress (and occasional regress).
Pia Benegal has been a Costume Designer for over three decades, with experience in film, television, and theatre. Known for her authentic approach, she excels in both realistic genres and period dramas. Her latest project, 'Gandhi' (presently in post-production), is a TV Series on Gandhi's earliest days and his days as a lawyer, showing the lesser-known stories of his life that played an important role in shaping him into a Mahatma. Pia's notable films include 'Mujib: The Making of a Nation', 'Aligarh', 'Bose: The Forgotten Hero', 'Mammo', 'Zubeidaa', 'Suraj Ka Satwan Ghoda', 'Hari Bhari', 'Welcome to Sajjanpur', 'Sardari Begum', 'Dil Se', 'Well Done Abba', 'English', 'August', 'Drohkaal', and 'Bombay Boys'. In television, Pia worked on the ten-part series Samvidhaan, and other shows like Siyaasat. She also contributed to the docu-drama Jang-E-Azadi, featured at the museum in Kartarpur, Punjab, and designed for the play Gauhar, performed across India and internationally. Pia won the Lux Cine Zee Award for Best Costume Design for 'Sardari Begum' in 1998. Her work on the BBC-2 docu-drama 'Last Days of the Raj' earned a BAFTA nomination in 2008. A passionate traveler, nature lover, and photographer, Pia has also served as a jury member for the Kashish Film Festival in 2013, the Laadli Film and Book Awards in 2018, and the LIFFT India Filmotsav-World Cine Fest in 2017 and 2018.

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).
Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).
At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.
Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)
While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:
Regarding profile removals and data corrections:
Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
