Andrew Walker

Alias:
Andy Walker

Andy Walker is one of Australia’s busiest television drama producers. Most recently producing the hugely popular series ROSEHAVEN for the ABC, FIVE BEDROOMS (Series 2); TRUE STORY WITH HAMISH AND ANDY; and THE FAMILY LAW; he has just produced upcoming series SPREADSHEET (starring our very own trainers Katrina Milosevic and Bernard Curry) which airs in 2021.  Prior to THE KETTERING INCIDENT, he produced the 22 episode drama series WONDERLAND, and the critically acclaimed MR & MRS MURDER, both for FremantleMedia Australia and Network Ten. MR & MRS MURDER marked a return to long-form drama for Walker after several years producing narrative comedy series. He produced the hit series A MOODY CHRISTMAS for Jungleboys (for which he was nominated for an AACTA Award), Series 2 of LAID for Porchlight Films and Frank Woodley’s much-loved series WOODLEY. In 2010 he was the Co-Producer on JUDITH LUCY’S SPIRITUAL JOURNEY, and Series 3 of THE LIBRARIANS. Walker was also the Casting Director on A MOODY CHRISTMAS and LAID Series 2.  Walker produced three seasons of the award-winning drama series SATISFACTION for Showtime Australia. The series won the 2009 ASTRA Award for Most Outstanding Television Drama and was the recipient of multiple AFI and Logie Award nominations. The cutting-edge series screened in over 30 territories around the world and earned Walker a nomination in the Outstanding International Producer category at the 2009 Monte Carlo Television Festival.  In 2006, Walker produced the ABC/CBC Australian-Canadian co-production mini-series ANSWERED BY FIRE, set during the tumultuous events in East Timor in 1997. This much-lauded mini-series earned Most Outstanding Drama nominations at the AFI, Logie and Gemini Awards; and Silver Hugo at the 2007 Chicago International Television Festival.  His earlier credits as producer include the Australian telemovies BIG REEF (Nine Network Australia) and LIFE (Network Ten). Walker was also the casting director on these productions.  Walker spent ten years with Beyond Simpson Le Mesurier, one of Australia’s  leading independent production companies, working across all of the company’s production, development and casting activities, during which time the company produced hundreds of hours of Australia’s most popular drama series. For Beyond Simpson Le Mesurier, Walker was the Associate Producer on the Nine Network’s undercover police drama STINGERS, the ABC children’s sci-fi serial SILVER SUN and Magda Szubanski’s DOGWOMAN telemovies. Walker was also the Production Associate on the hit series HALIFAX F.P. (Australia’s most successful telemovie franchise), GOOD GUYS BAD GUYS and SOMETHING IN THE AIR.

About the Movie Section

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).

Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

  • If you would like your profile removed from this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's gone from their site, it should soon be gone from this site.
  • If you would like to correct movie data on this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's corrected on their site, it should soon be corrected on this site.
  • For additional corrections and profile removals, please e-mail The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
