A work in constant progress (and occasional regress).
Shawn Hawkins is an actor, touring musician and successful entrepreneur originally from Upstate New York. Now residing in Los Angeles, CA, he graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, TN with a B.A. in Theatre and a minor in Business Administration. Shawn spent the first half of his life performing throughout Upstate New York as a guitar and mandolin player as well as vocal artist. He led with several different groups before heading to Nashville to pursue a career in music. This led to 3 east coast tours with a country/rock group and many shows in between. After realizing his passion for acting, Shawn switched from a 2-year study of Music Business to the Theatre Department at Belmont University. He worked diligently to build relationships between the theatre school and with the film students at Watkins College next door to build his resume and prepare for his post graduate move to Los Angeles. Shawn has brought together all facets of his training from his youth, performing, college and beyond to start a successful outsourced photo editing company called Hawkins.png that hit 6 figures within the first year and continues to blossom. He is also working with his business partner to create and build their next great venture in the wedding industry. Shawn also acts regularly alongside manager, Patty Stevens of Egg Hunt Ent. and Theatrical/Commercial rep, Carrie Park of the Park Artists Group. In the past two years alone, Shawn booked over 12 leads in commercials, he led in an indie feature that awarded him 4 best actor nominations and 2 wins, was cast and recorded with Horseless Cowboy Productions as lead character Mirage in Netflix's Transformers: War for Cybertron trilogy, and of course is cherishing his relationship with musical artist, actress and stunter, Sierra Heuermann. Get ready to be seeing a lot more of Shawn in the coming years in both the business and film/tv world. He's a man on a mission and loves taking on new creative ventures. "Let's never stop growing, learning, laughing and loving!" - Shawn Hawkins
Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).
Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).
At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.
Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)
While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:
Regarding profile removals and data corrections:
Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
Whether or not he still clings to an award which he won in 1986 as a film critic for his college's newspaper, Jeffrey Hartmann is not responsible for the texts of overviews and biographies supplied by external data sources.
