Born on July 5, Tuba majored in Costume & Design. While studying, she began to get involved in television commercials before moving on to television shows and films. Tuba became the first Turkish actress to win an international award for best actress at the International Television Festival of the Republic of Serbia and Montenegro for her portrayal of Gulizar in the film of the same name. She was 21 years old when she filmed the movie. Tuba is well known in Arab countries as "Lamiss", which corresponds to her character in the famous series "Ihlamular Altinda" or "Lost Years", this character made a strong impression in Arab countries like no other, for this reason a perfume was created with the same name and Tuba's image. Between 2007 and 2009, Tuba portrayed the leading character of 'Asiye' in the hit TV show, 'Asi. 'Asi' was later nominated 'Best Soap Opera' at the '51 Monte Carlo Television Festival'. "Asi" is the first Turkish tv series to be nominated internationally. Tuba is the first and only Turkish actress to be evaluated by more than a thousand professionals and to be nominated as best actress at the "42nd International Emmy Awards" for her portrayal of "Melek" in the series "20 Minutes". This gave her the status of being one of the best actresses in the world. Her series "Brave And Beautiful" was also nominated at the IEmmys for best TV show or telenovela. Tuba is also the first Turkish actress to win an international award in Italy for best actress at the 14th Giuseppe Sciacca International Awards. Tuba is the female lead in the first Turkish series recorded in English, “Rise Of Ottoman Empires” where she played Mara Hatun. Her series “Another Self” currently holds the record for the most watched Turkish series worldwide on Netflix and is the most watched Turkish series in USA. Tuba is also a National Goodwill Ambassador for Unicef and works as an advocate for children’s rights. Tuba has a unique appeal in her eyes, the shape and changing color that sometimes reflects green, grey and golden hues. Despite her physical beauty she is very modest, humble and focused and down to earth, she is very intelligent and speaks three languages.
Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).
Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).
At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.
Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)
While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:
Regarding profile removals and data corrections:
Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
