Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are a directing team, producers, best buds, and founders of the New York City production company Supermarché. They directed two films in 2016 -- Nerve, a summer hit released by Lionsgate, starring Emma Roberts and Dave Franco, and Viral, a low budget horror movie starring Sofia Black-D'Elia and Analeigh Tipton. They also executive produced the 2016 Sundance Film Festival hit White Girl, directed by Elizabeth Wood, which was picked up by Netflix and will be released theatrically in September. Their first feature documentary, Catfish, premiered at the Sundance film festival where it received critical acclaim and went on to a nationwide release in Fall 2010. Their next feature, Paranormal Activity 3, released by Paramount Pictures in 2011, opened to rave reviews and remains the highest grossing horror opening in history. Their second film in the franchise, Paranormal Activity 4 was released in October, 2012. The two combined have grossed $350 million dollars. Henry and Rel are also Executive Producers on Catfish the TV Show, and have directed dozens of commercials and short films including A Brief History of John Baldessari, narrated by Tom Waits, which has been screened at over 75 film festivals worldwide. Their 2011 Google commercial Dear Sophie was named Time Magazine's Best Commercial of the Year. They have also made a number of short films for Vogue Magazine starring Lena Dunham, Margot Robbie, and Taylor Swift, accumulating over 5 million views. In addition to several projects in development, Henry & Rel wrote and are attached to direct an adaptation of Edward Abbey's novel The Monkey Wrench Gang, to be produced by Ed Pressman and Gary Burden.

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).
Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).
At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.
Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)
While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:
Regarding profile removals and data corrections:
Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
Whether or not he still clings to an award which he won in 1986 as a film critic for his college's newspaper, Jeffrey Hartmann is not responsible for the texts of overviews and biographies supplied by external data sources.
