Michael A. Allowitz (born 1964) is an American television director and producer. He is well known for his work on The CW's The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. He began his illustrious career in first assistant directing with the 1992 film The Prom. He would work in the same capacity on such other features as: Saints and Sinner, Slums of Beverly Hills, Cruel Intentions, and Bring It On Again. He worked as first AD on the TV series The Comeback and In Treatment, before going on to serve in the position on his seminal series The Vampire Diaries. After serving as first AD on Diaires for 27 episodes, Allowitz sieged to director. He has helmed 11 episodes of the series, including "Christmas Through Your Eyes". He has gone on to direct for sister series The Originals, Containment, Freakish and The Flash.
