A work in constant progress (and occasional regress).
Susan Rohrer cut her teeth as a director on an adaptation of James Weldon Johnson's acclaimed God's Trombones, followed by directing 100 episodes of award-winning drama Another Life. Thereafter, Rohrer produced and directed (and in some cases wrote) four specials for CBS and one for ABC, as well as For Jenny With Love and TV movie Mother's Day for the Family Channel. She went on to direct six episodes of teen comedy Sweet Valley High, as well as the pilot, Dojo Kids. Rohrer produced/directed/wrote (shared teleplay) the CBS sponsored movie, About Sarah, and wrote PAX television movies Another Pretty Face and Book of Days. Rohrer's projects have received numerous industry awards and nominations including an Emmy Award (Never Say Goodbye, also nominated for an Emmy in cinematography [Ken Lamkin, ASC]), and three additional personal Emmy nominations in outstanding producing, directing and writing categories (Terrible Things My Mother Told Me, The Emancipation of Lizzie Stern, and If I Die Before I Wake). Rohrer directed Academy Award winner Mary Steenburgen to a SAG Award nomination for About Sarah, which was also the recipient of The Christopher Award, The Film Advisory Board's Award of Excellence, and "Best in Festival" at the Breckenridge Festival of Film, and a finalist for the Media Access Awards. Rohrer co-executive produced, co-wrote the finale, and directed the multiple award-winning entire first season of the television series These Stones (2024). Additionally, Rohrer's work has been recognized with honors by the NEA, the American Women In Radio and Television's Public Service Award (Sexual Considerations), the Angel Awards, the CINE Golden Eagle Awards, and has received three NAACP Image Award nominations (Mother's Day) including Best Television Movie and two Best Actor nominations (for Denise Nicholas, Malcolm-Jamal Warner). Rohrer's work on These Stones has been honored by award wins and nominations from ICVM, ICFF, KIFF, CONTENT, CARE, Salty Earth Film Festival, and Faith in Film. Rohrer was named Lady Director of the Year in the 2nd annual Women's Film Festival in 2024.

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).
Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).
At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.
Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)
While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:
Regarding profile removals and data corrections:
Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
Whether or not he still clings to an award which he won in 1986 as a film critic for his college's newspaper, Jeffrey Hartmann is not responsible for the texts of overviews and biographies supplied by external data sources.
