Radicado no Rio de Janeiro desde 2008, Paulo Scott é formado pela Faculdade de Direito da PUC do Rio Grande do Sul e Mestre em Direito Público pela UFRGS. Seu livro de estreia, Histórias curtas para domesticar as paixões dos anjos e atenuar os sofrimentos dos monstros, foi lançado em 2001 sob o pseudônimo de Elrodris. Em 2004, Paulo Scott foi um dos três finalistas do Prêmio Açorianos de Literatura com o livro de contos Ainda orangotangos, adaptado posteriormente para o cinema pelo gaúcho Gustavo Spolidoro, longa-metragem vencedor do 13º Festival de Cinema de Milão. Em 2005, publicou o romance Voláteis, com o qual conquistou o prêmio Autor Revelação do Ano de 2005 - Prêmio Jornal O Sul / Câmara Rio-Grandense do Livro / Governo do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. No mesmo ano, co-roteirizou o filme O início do fim, curta-metragem de Gustavo Spolidoro. Atualmente encontra-se em progresso seu romance "Ithaca Road, Australia" que faz parte do projeto Amores Expressos, realizado pela RT Features e pela Companhia das Letras, que o levou a Sydney, na Austrália, em 2008. Em 2010 foi contemplado com a Bolsa Petrobrás de Criação Literária para conclusão de seu último livro, o romance Habitante irreal lançado no final de 2011 (livro vencedor do Prêmio da Fundação Biblioteca Nacional 2012).

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
