Abdulhussain Abdulredha (1939-2017) was a pioneering Kuwaiti actor, playwright, and comedian, widely regarded as one of the most iconic figures in Gulf and Arab entertainment. Born on July 15, 1939, in Kuwait City, Abdulredha was a central figure in the development of the Kuwaiti theater scene and a beloved personality across the Arab world.  Abdulredha's career spanned over five decades, during which he became known for his sharp wit, charismatic stage presence, and his ability to blend comedy with social and political commentary. His work often reflected the cultural and social issues of Kuwait and the broader Gulf region, tackling topics like family dynamics, political corruption, and societal changes with humor and insight.  One of his most famous works is the 1981 play "Bye Bye London," which humorously explores the experiences of Gulf Arabs in Western societies. Abdulredha's performances were characterized by their relatability and his unique ability to connect with audiences from all walks of life.  In addition to his theatrical work, Abdulredha appeared in numerous television series and films, further cementing his status as a household name. His influence extended beyond entertainment, as he became a cultural ambassador for Kuwait and the Gulf, helping to shape the region's identity in the arts.  Abdulredha's contributions to Arab entertainment were recognized with numerous awards and accolades throughout his life. Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
