The motion picture tells the story of the life and teachings of Duns Scotus starting with his refusal to endorse a decree by the King of France against the Pope and ending with the theological dispute with the Dominican Friars concerning the conception of Mary, Mother of Jesus. It also gives a glimpse of Duns Scotus's life as a boy wanting to join the Franciscan Friars.
