After a wild sex session in a brothel on his 40th birthday, Luis, bitter and haughty, tries unsuccessfully to escape from the blood stain that, without explanation, grows on the sheet over the bulge formed by his lover. Desperation and what he finds under the sheet means that the only option is to jump out the window of the room already full of blood. The blow plunges him into a strange dream in which a particular fairy godmother reminds him of the child that she still carries inside and the need to take care of him. Convinced of the teaching, by blowing out the candles on his birthday cake, Luis wishes to become that child. Beneath the sheets, drenched in blood, he discovers the error of his desire.

  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).
