The German tourist Kiki and the Swiss tour guide Marlies are kidnapped by Contra rebels from Nicaragua while on vacation in Costa Rica. While Kiki's friend Markus fights for her release together with her mother, Kiki begins an affair with one of the kidnappers. When the two women were released after 72 days on payment of ransom, the police suspected that they had colluded with the kidnappers.
