Lakambini Gregoria de Jesus reclaims the voice of an underrecognized heroine—beloved by two revolutionaries of the Philippine Revolution of 1896, the first in Asia to revolt against colonial power. The film reframes the traditional narrative of leadership by highlighting the vital yet often overlooked role of women in the fight for nationhood. For Oriang was more than just a wife, she was a revolutionary in her own right, confronting not only Spanish colonizers but also betrayal and political intrigue from her fellow Filipinos.   • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).
