The year 1863 the end of the January Uprising - against the Russians, its phase of collapse. One of the last insurgents, Andrzej Winrych, disguises himself as a peasant and smuggles weapons. However, he is noticed by a Russian patrol. The witness of the unfolding tragedy is a Polish peasant.
