Born in West Tokyo City, Tokyo. Graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan Hoya High School and Nihon University College of Art.  Soon as a manga artist, when he was 14 years old, he won the Big Comic Spirits Monthly Newcomer Encouragement Award at “The City of Youkai” . He has also been selected for Kodansha 's Chiba Tetsuya Award .  In college, he completed two independent films, including “Scrap” and “Haraise”. Both were selected for the Yubari Film Festival .  Enrolled in a video production company for a period after graduating from university, earning full-fledged CG and video editing related technologies. After leaving the company, he worked mainly on motion graphics and animation .  In 2003, the independent movie “ Beauty Can ” was announced. The third challenge, Yubari Film Festival 03 Off Theater Division Grand Prix, other Pia Film Festival 03 Planning Award, Michinoku International Mystery Film Festival 03 Kadokawa Off Theater Competition Grand Prix, etc. The award will be used as a whole, and will be linked to the 2004 theater release.  In 2005, he made a self-remake of “ Beauty Can ” starring Satoshi Tsumabuki in “The World's Strange Story '05 Spring Special Edition” . In 2006, he wrote the novel “Beauty Can”.  In 2008, the short film “ Ross: Time: Life ” , which was previously produced as an independent work , will be made into an omnibus series drama on Fuji TV. He participated as a draft, general director and director. He also made a feature film director debut for theatrical performance in “ Sweet Rain Grim Reaper Accuracy ” slightly ahead of this

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
