With a rich experience of 18 years in entertainment, leading, launching and building some of the most profitable businesses, Akash is one of the very few entertainment specialists from India who have successfully essayed the roles of business, content and brand across #Films, #Television and #Digital. His last corporate assignment was as Executive Vice President at the content studios of Zee Entertainment, where he turned around the business into a highly profitable and award-winning studio. In this role, Akash was in charge of the entire #content production business of Zee. Here he produced box office blockbusters & National award-winning films like Secret Superstar with Aamir Khan, Rustom with Akshay Kumar & Mom with Sridevi. Akash was also the head of the most trusted General Ent television brand in India - Zee TV & launched 3 successful, highly profitable Television channels in the film and GE space across Pay TV and Free TV. He was a part of the corporate leadership team at Zee. It was during the stint at Zee Studios, that Akash got bit by the entrepreneurial bug. He co-founded the content company, FreshLime Films with his partner Joy Sengupta (Founder - Scarecrow Communications) where they focus on two content verticals - Digital and Feature. Their primary aim - To entertain audiences with Indian stories that travel the globe. Their first offering on #OTT is the successful series - Karenjit Kaur, The Untold #Story on Sunny Leone. Rated 8.1 on IMDB, the show has successfully completed 2 seasons on Zee5 and is one of the platforms showcases. Their first Marathi feature titled Anandi Gopal on India’s first woman doctor back in 1882, has the highest box office collection for a Marathi film in 2019 and is also the highest rated (8.9 on IMDB).  The first Hindi feature film with the prolific star Ajay Devgn and directed by Amit Sharma of the blockbuster ‘Badhai Ho’ fame is currently on the floor. Akash is also the author of 3 International White Papers in WAM & ESOMAR

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
