Harry Larter (born February 20th, 2002), is an English Screenwriter and Director. Most notably, the short films 'Reminder' (2024), 'Flames' (2023) and 'Hanging by a Moment' (2022) which are all directed and written by Larter. He currently attends the University of Portsmouth, studying Film Production and is due to graduate in the summer of 2024. He is the writer for 'Eventide' - a BAFP short film directed by Louis Westover, which has been completed and he also worked on the set as the Script Supervisor. He has also worked as the First Assistant Director on the Christmas themed film 'Tinsel' (2023) directed by Davey Fox Ezra, and the short comedy film 'Daylight' (2023) directed by Alfie Sadler.  Larter has been an avid lover of film and television all of his life, and has always loved writing; having written shorts, features and stories since he was a child, as well as an unreleased novel in 2017, which he later adapted into his first proper short film, titled 'Time Virus' in 2021. His writing style tends to be grounded, focussing on hard hitting, gritty and emotional themes, however he has written other genres such as action, comedy and superhero. He also has a short background in acting, having studied drama in school and acted in several projects.

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
