Ballerina, actress and trainer Mona Calis; She was born in 1992 in Izmir. With the guidance of her mother, who is a ballerina and pianist, she started her ballet career in primary school by being selected for the class of "special talents" in the Classical Ballet Department of Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory. After 5 years of education, she won the Hacettepe University State Conservatory Classical Ballet Department in secondary school with the first place, and studied boarding for three years. She started his teaching career in 2004. During her high school period, she won the Classical Ballet Department of Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory with the first place and completed her four-year high school education with the highest grade point average. Before getting her undergraduate degree, she was the principal dancer and instructor of a world-renowned large dance group originating from Turkey. Thanks to her love for musicals, she wanted to combine dance and acting, and she took her first theater and acting education at Müjdat Gezen Art Center with Özdemir Nutku. After completing her acting education here, she came to Istanbul and won the Modern Dance Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan University. She choreographed special shows and appeared on the stage as a principal dancer. She joined the staff of the Istanbul Children's Theater and became a musical dancer and actor. During this time, she developed self in the fields of art direction, bodily awareness, postural disorders, empowerment, balance and action acting.

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
