Alias:
Rima Delane

Birthplace:
Brooklyn, New York, U.S.

Rima Lyn (aka Rima Delane) was born in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up in Greenwich Village, and happened to live next door to the renown HB Studios on Bank Street. Her mother signed her up for a class at age 8. She remembers 'being a tree,' howling like a dog and rolling around on the floor a lot.  n 1976, she moved to Los Angeles. She continued her interest in acting and studied with Judy Mcglaughlin, Lynette Katselas and later with Stephanie Feury. She received encouraging feedback from a number of auditions, including coming in 2nd for the TV series, Fame. Her dance audition with Debbie Allen was a career high. In 1985, she was lucky enough to win a role alongside Katey Sagal and Pamela Adlon in the Jay Gruska/Paul Gordon musical, "Backstreet." For one of the performances, she performed with Miguel Ferrer, who understudied the 'Gang Leader' for a weekend. Other theater highs include a 'starred review' performance for "Cowboy Mouth" in Pasadena.  Her first film role was a cameo in the cult classic, "Better Off Dead." She played the 'geek next door', Joanne Greenwald, and got to do something she would never do in real life, refuse a date with John Cusack! She almost wound up on the cutting room floor, and is forever grateful to writer/director Savage Steve Holland for picking her to play the role  Her television roles included "Silver Spoons," "227," and later, "Felicity." She appeared as a jaded fashion commentator on the children's show "2 HIP 4 TV." Her character was interviewed by Colin Quinn and the hardest part was keeping a serious pout while Colin cracked wise.  She went on to do a number of satisfying things with her life, including teaching performing and fine arts to gifted teens, publishing her poetry, writing music, screenplays and becoming a personal chef with a number of delightful celebrity clients. She recently opened a popular cafĂ© in Todos Santos, BCS, named Bistro Magico.  In 2023, she wrote, produced and co-directed a short film based on her award-winning screenplay. "Super Taco" is currently making a festival run and she looks forward to shooting the feature film in 2024.

About the Movie Section

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).

Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

  • If you would like your profile removed from this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's gone from their site, it should soon be gone from this site.
  • If you would like to correct movie data on this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's corrected on their site, it should soon be corrected on this site.
  • For additional corrections and profile removals, please e-mail The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
