Robert Kestler was born March 1, 1971 in Venice, CA. His father, Robert N. Kestler, was an L.A.P.D. Detective and his mother Christine was a stay at home mother. He attended Walgrove Elementary, St. Mark's Catholic School and Mark Twain Junior High in Venice before moving to Ventura County. He graduated from Newbury Park High School in 1989. Robert's family has history in Hollywood as his Great Grandfather (Philip Morris I) was an actor as well as Eddie Chandler his Great Uncle. He also has deep family roots in the Los Angeles Police Department. As his grandfather John F. Morris "Capt. Jack" as he was called served for 33 years with the L.A.P.D. Robert was married to Monir Kestler in 1995 and has three daughters Tiffany, Dallas, and Tyler. He lives in Thousand Oaks in Ventura County.  Robert has always been drawn to acting. Always the class clown and ready to entertain. Though he has worked many careers, acting is always the one he kept coming back to. His debut roles have varied from Secret Service to Circus Roust a Bout. He loves the Science Fiction and Drama Genres but would love to explore Comedy. He has yet to play a villain but aspires to in the future. He studies with Michaeljohn Gonzales to hone his acting skills. However he has also studied with David Kagen.

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
