Matt Pearson is an Australian producer/director from Adelaide, South Australia. He has a broad experience in production roles over feature film, short film, TV series' and TV Commercial platforms.  As a graduate from the Adelaide Centre of the Arts in 2006 with a Diploma of Screen and Television, his film "Love You Mum" was widely acclaimed - Winning international awards such as The Bronze Plaque at the 55th Annual Columbus International Film and Video Festival, and Best Drama at both the International Student Film Festival, California and Young Australia Productions Awards (SA, Australia). Matt was nominated for the 'Best Emerging Producer' at the South Australian Short Screen Awards (SASSA) in 2007 and 2009.  Among producing several more short form films; "The Only House on the Street", "Luck of the Irish" and "The Other Brother" - Matt has been working in a large variety of production roles, including assisting producers; Todd Fellman (At Last, Legend of Sun & Moon), Nelson Woss (Red Dog), Elisa Argenzio & Peter Gawler (Wolf Creek - TV Series) and Mike Gabrawy (Hotel Mumbai).  In 2013, he founded production company; Varsity Films which has been specialising in Advertising & Video Marketing.  Matt is pursuing a path in direction, having recently directed two short form projects; "The Legend of Yi" and "The Sandpit". The latter winning 'Best Screenplay' & 'Best Editing' at the 2018 SA Short Screen Awards (SASSA).

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
