Matthias Uhl was born in the city of Nordhausen, which was then part of the GDR. Since school I have been interested in history and even in the early 1990s came to study it in the Soviet Union, and later in the Russian Federation. Specializes in the history of Eastern Europe. In 2000, he defended his dissertation on the technology of German jet technology and their use in Soviet rocketry. From the mid-1990s until the early 2000s, he held the position of research fellow at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg. After that, Matthias devoted five years to studying the USSR's policies in matters of weapons, technology and reparations after the end of World War II, as well as the GDR as part of the Warsaw Pact and the activities of the Soviet intelligence services during the Cold War.
