Ronnie Minder (b. 1978)

Birthplace:
Thun, Switzerland

Born:
December 12, 1978

Ronnie Minder is an award-winning composer with a career spanning more than two decades. He was in the running for a Best Score Academy Award nomination amongst composers such as Hans Zimmer, Alexandre Desplat, Nick Cave and Max Richter. Minder was born in Switzerland, became an Australian citizen in 2021 and his work was quickly noticed even in Hollywood. His distinctive themes and ability to compose a wide range of music including contemporary, orchestral and electronic, made him a highly sought after composer, having been asked to score Ridley Scott’s 'Life in a Day in Switzerland' (Scott Free Productions).  His score for Australian Western-epic ‘The Legend of Ben Hall’ received major worldwide support and was featured on the front page of iTunes America for an entire month during Oscar season amongst scores such as ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ and ‘La La Land’. Minder scored more award-winning films including Sea Shepherd's 'Defend, Conserve, Protect' featuring Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters, The Blues Brothers), the uplifting 'True Vision' produced by Sue Maslin (The Dressmaker) and several campaigns for Porsche starring Patrick Dempsey (Thanksgiving).  Inspired by the music of Ennio Morricone, Vangelis and Angelo Badalamenti, Minder started to compose music at the age of 14 and signed his first record contract in 2000 with German label Shogun Records. By the end of 2004, Minder signed nearly a dozen record contracts in many different countries, also producing music for Warner Music artists. His music was featured on hundreds of music compilations across the globe and after a very successful career in electronic music, in 2014, Minder decided to fully focus on scoring for film.  He recently scored Matthew Holmes' award-winning revenge-drama 'The Cost', Henry Boffin’s upcoming dramedy ‘Strange Creatures’, coming-of-age boxing drama 'Heart of the Man' and Saban Films distributed crime-thriller 'Kane’. Minder frequently collaborates with the same directors/producers and has an array of upcoming features in the pipeline with the soundtracks to be released on his own record label Esperanto Records.

About the Movie Section

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).

Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

  • If you would like your profile removed from this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's gone from their site, it should soon be gone from this site.
  • If you would like to correct movie data on this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's corrected on their site, it should soon be corrected on this site.
  • For additional corrections and profile removals, please e-mail The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
