Yannis Papanastasopoulos is a filmmaker hailing from the vibrant city of Athens, Greece born in 1994. Having embarked on his journey in the world of cinema, Yannis carved his path to success when he directed his first short film, titled "Pathosis," during his film studies, earning him first-class honours in 2017. Fueled by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to constantly refine his craft, Yannis sought to expand his expertise in manipulating the art of cinematography. His dedication led him to the prestigious ARRI Academy in Munich, where he received certification in camera systems. Yannis has adorned his résumé with an impressive array of experiences in the industry. From commercials to music videos and films, his diverse experiences include working at Nu Boyana Film Studios in Sofia, Bulgaria one of Europe's largest and most renowned film studios, a pivotal moment that enriched his understanding of filmmaking. This invaluable opportunity allowed him to immerse himself in the heart of the filmmaking process, learning from industry veterans and refining his artistic vision.  Embracing his entrepreneurial spirit and recognizing the need for a creative space that fosters innovation, Yannis realized his vision in 2022 with the grand opening of "Ena Kare," a modern photo studio and creative haven. This achievement not only highlights his drive to provide a platform for fellow artists but also showcases his versatility as a multifaceted creative force in the industry.

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
