A work in constant progress (and occasional regress).

July 12, 1988
Ashley Loren is known to theatre lovers as the longest running Satine in the Broadway hit Moulin Rouge: The Musical. Ashley also starred in For The Record's production of BAZ: Star Crossed Love, Ursula in Reprise 2.0’s inaugural production of Sweet Charity directed by Kathleen Marshall, the Broadway revival of Jekyll & Hyde (and it’s national tour), and played Extraordinary Girl in Green Day’s American Idiot in LA. She won Best Featured Actress Film Festival award for her work in the film Be The Light, and featured on Season 2 of NBC's This Is Us and Season 1 of HBO's And Just Like That. After appearing on Season 8 of American Idol, Ashley was signed to Universal Music Group/Island Def Jam and traveled the world singing with artists such as Bono/U2, Angelique Kidjo, Lupe Fiasco, Dev Hynes/Blood Orange, and Yoko Ono. She has sung back-up for Carly Rae Jepsen, Melissa Etheridge and Iggy Azalea on NPR Tiny Desk, Good Morning America, The Today Show, LIVE with Kelly & Michael, The View, MADE, America's Got Talent, Howard Stern (siriusXM), Saturday Night Live!, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, James Corden and Ellen. Ashley has performed internationally with Broadway ROX, Spiegelworld's Empire, Nederlander Worldwide and with Amnesty International. Ashley has used the platform afforded to her to advocate for those with chronic and invisible illness, and increase awareness for Lyme Disease, a condition she was diagnosed with as young child. Her continued story of hope, resilience and strength while facing Lyme was brought to the world in a November 2022 profile in People Magazine, and during her keynote speech at the 2022 Global Lyme Alliance Gala in New York City, an event that raised $1.85 million for Lyme Disease research, education, awareness, and patient services.
Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).
Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).
At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.
Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)
While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:
Regarding profile removals and data corrections:
Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
Whether or not he still clings to an award which he won in 1986 as a film critic for his college's newspaper, Jeffrey Hartmann is not responsible for the texts of overviews and biographies supplied by external data sources.
