Im August 2004 wurde Gercke auf einem regionalen Casting für eine Fastfood-Kette entdeckt und anschließend für Fotoshootings und den Laufsteg gebucht. Anfang 2006 nahm sie an der ersten Staffel der vom Fernsehsender ProSieben ausgestrahlten Model-Castingshow Germany’s Next Topmodel teil. Am 29. März 2006 wurde sie zur Siegerin des Wettbewerbs gekürt, erhielt einen Vertrag mit der Modelagentur IMG Models und erschien auf dem Titelbild der Deutschlandausgabe der Cosmopolitan.  Gercke machte unter anderem Werbung für Oui Set, Windows Live und Katjes. Sie zierte verschiedene Cover von deutschen und internationalen Magazinen. Anfang 2009 lief sie zum dritten Mal für verschiedene Designer auf der Fashion Week Berlin. Von 2009 bis 2012 moderierte Gercke Austria’s Next Topmodel bei Puls 4. am 11. April 2013 erstmals das ProSieben-Magazin red!. 2013 und 2014 saß sie in der 7. und 8. Staffel der Sendung Das Supertalent neben Dieter Bohlen, Bruce Darnell und Guido Maria Kretschmer in der Jury. Im August 2015 moderierte sie bei ProSieben erstmals die Show Prankenstein und zeigte mit versteckter Kamera gefilmte Streiche. Im Herbst 2015 moderiert sie zusammen mit Thore Schölermann die 5. Staffel von The Voice of Germany

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
