Visar Morina is a director and writer. He was born in Pristina, Kosovo, and is based in Cologne, Germany. From 2004-2010 he studied film at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, during which he worked on various film and theatre projects as assistant director at the Schauspiel Köln and the Volksbühne Berlin, among others. His diploma film DER SCHÜBLING (Death By Suffocation) was awarded at several national and international festivals, including ‘Most Surprising International Film of the Year’ at the Odense International Film Festival in 2010. His subsequent short OF DOGS AND WALL PAPER (2013) was selected for the International Short Film Competition at Locarno IFF 2013 and nominated for the German Short Film Award in 2014. Visar Morina’s debut feature film BABAI premiered in 2015 and was awarded ‘Best Director’ at Karlovy Vary IFF 2015 and ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Script’, and ‘Best Actor’ at FilmFest München, among others.

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
