Talgat Dosymgalievich Temenov (Kazakh: Талғат Досымғалиұлы Теменов; born November 23, 1954; Malibay) is a Soviet and Kazakh director, actor, screenwriter, professor. People's Artist of Kazakhstan (1998). Artistic director of the Kazakh Musical and Drama Theater named after K. Kuanyshbayev.  He was born on November 23, 1954 in the village of Malybai, Alma-Ata region. In 1976 he graduated from the acting faculty of the Alma-Ata Conservatory. From 1976 to 1980 — actor of the Talda-Kurgan regional drama Theater. From 1980 to 1982 — assistant director, screenwriter of the Kazakhfilm film studio. In 1986 he graduated from the Higher Courses of screenwriters and Directors (workshop of S. Solovyov)  In 1988, he made his debut as a film director with the film "The Wolf among People", which was awarded by a number of film festivals, including the Special Jury Prize "For the best directorial Debut" of the International Film Festival in Lisbon (1990). Since 1988, a member of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR. In 1994-2002 — Rector of the Almaty State Theatrical Art Institute named after Zhurgeneva In 2002-2005 — General Director of the Kazakhfilm Film Studio named after Shaken Aimanov. In 2005-2014 — Artistic Director of the Kazakh State Academic Theater for Children and Youth named after G. Musrepov Since 2014 — Artistic director of the Kazakh Musical and Drama Theater named after K. Kuanyshbayev

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
