Tolula Adeyemi

Tolula Adeyemi was born in London, England to Doctor and medical professor Edward Adeyemi and Doctor and Pharmacist Margaret Remi Adeyemi, who's younger brother is the Doctor General of the Nigerian Army and head of the medical core for the whole country. Tolula's father passed away when she was 19 years old, as she was in the midst of studying theatre and drama. When she turned twenty-one she decided to take the leap and make acting her profession.  Tolula was age 11 when she made her stage debut, in Shakespeare's As You Like It and The Tempest , which ignited her passion for Shakespeare and theatre in general. Tolula went on to perform briefly in National Youth Theatre in her early teens, went on to train within theatre repertory and worked with teachers at RADA. She has also trained at the Ivana Chubbuck Studio, Los Angeles and the Magnet Improv Theater, NYC and Yonda Davis Studio, Los Angeles.  Tolula studied a fine art, contemporary art and contemporary artists foundation degree at Chelsea College of Art, London. And coming from an academic family, she felt the need to study with The Open University, as she took on modeling jobs to pay for her drama training. Tolula was deemed the face and muse of British iconic designer Vivienne Westwood in campaigns and collaborations.  A lover of poetry and the arts, Tolula's vibrant and dynamic personality is showcased through her many projects - including setting up and running her own theatre company between 2007-2009 called Le TAtre, devising, writing and installing pop-up shows around London as reported in The Evening Standard and Harper's Bazaar's September Highlights.  Tolula's acting career gained momentum and attention when she landed a role opposite Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson in her first feature film role as jazz singer Monique in Last Chance Harvey (2008) It was a sure sign to herself and her family that she is capable of pursuing a great career in film and theatre and take the chance to explore further opportunities.  Tolula is huge supporter of human rights, especially for women and child in war torn and poverty stricken countries. She supports many charities such as Kids Company and charities that help preserve the environment.  Tolula is based in Los Angeles and is working on number of films and shows in development. Tolula's goal are to continue to grow, be challenged and have the chance to work with directors such as Ava DuVernay, Andrea Arnold, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, David Lynch, Kathryn Bigelow, Steven Soderbergh, Paul Thomas Anderson to name a few.

About the Movie Section

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).

Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

  • If you would like your profile removed from this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's gone from their site, it should soon be gone from this site.
  • If you would like to correct movie data on this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's corrected on their site, it should soon be corrected on this site.
  • For additional corrections and profile removals, please e-mail The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
