Ase Wang (b. 1981)

Alias:
Ase Huimin Wang

Birthplace:
Singapore

Born:
November 26, 1981

Ase, one of the most successful young models in Thailand, comes from a background of mixed heritage with Chinese and Swedish parentage. She is fluent in English, Swedish and semi-fluent in Mandarin and Thai. Having grown up in Singapore, but based in Bangkok, Thailand, she has worked in various countries across the globe and starred in over twenty commercials which have aired worldwide. Ase trained at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York and her time is predominantly split between Hong Kong, China, Japan, Thailand and Los Angeles.  After landing a lead role in the Singaporean TV series SPIN (similar to 90210), her career began to take flight. Audiences really engaged with her character "Pepper" and shortly after, she was offered a starring role in her first Singaporean feature film, CLOUDS IN MY COFFEE, a small indie film about three women coming of age. After this successful brief stint in Singapore, Ase moved her career to Hong Kong, where she appeared in many commercials and music videos along side stars such as, Aaron Kwok and she was named one of FHM's Sexiest Women of Asia for 4 years running. Ase recently wrapped a lead role in her first Hollywood feature, PRINCE AND ME 4: THE ELEPHANT ADVENTURE, playing the beautiful "Princess Myra," part of a tragic pair of star-crossed lovers.  Initially pursued as a hobby, Ases' continued passion for horse riding has now seen her with over 15 years of trained experience, having competed in various competitions in show jumping and dressage. Aside from her acting and modeling career, Ase designed her own clothing line in collaboration with CPS CHAPS, under the sub-brand, CPS CHAPS By ASE WANG, with the items being sold exclusively in the several flagship stores across the country. Much of her time off-set was spent designing her clothing line with her team and acting as the spokesperson for the brand in various promotional activities.

About the Movie Section

Most data and links to images for the Movies section come from TheMovieDB (TMDB).

Additional data for Film Titles come from The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

At least one plug-in comes from IMDb.

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

  • If you would like your profile removed from this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's gone from their site, it should soon be gone from this site.
  • If you would like to correct movie data on this site, please contact the source of this data directly, TheMovieDB. My assumption is: once it's corrected on their site, it should soon be corrected on this site.
  • For additional corrections and profile removals, please e-mail The Open Movie Database (OMDb).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
