Luigi Cadorna (né le 4 septembre 1850 à Verbania Pallanza dans le Piémont - mort le 21 décembre 1928 à Bordighera) était un militaire italien, fils du général Raffaele Cadorna. qui réorganisa complètement l'armée italienne à la veille de la Première Guerre mondiale, et fut le chef d'état major durant les 30 premiers mois du conflit. Lors de la déclaration de la guerre italienne en mai 1915 contre l'Autriche-Hongrie, il devient commandant des troupes basées sur la frontière italo-autrichienne. Alors qu'il a une attitude défensive dans le Trentin, il lance des offensives le long de la rivière Isonzo entraînant peu de succès et beaucoup de pertes humaines. Ses principaux succès furent l'arrêt de l'offensive autrichienne dans le Trentin, la capture de Gorizia et la victoire de Bainsizza. L'entrée en guerre de l'Allemagne aux côtés de l'Autriche-Hongrie contre l'Italie en 1917 changea les rapports de force et conduisit à la défaite de Caporetto. Il dut démissionner et fut remplacé par le généralArmando Diaz. En 1919 il fit partie de la délégation italienne à Versailles, mais une enquête officielle sur la défaite de Caporetto, qui le mettait en cause, l'obligea à retourner en Italie. Il fut néanmoins nommé maréchal en 1924, quand Mussolini prit le pouvoir.

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).
