Iniciou sua carreira no rádio nos anos 60 e, em seguida, tornou-se promotor de rodeios. Idealizou o parque Beto Carrero World, atualmente considerado o maior parque temático da América Latina e um dos maiores do mundo, na quinta posição1 , com mais de 10 milhões de visitantes desde sua inauguração, em 28 de dezembro de 1991. O empresário participou de quatro filmes: Os Trapalhões no Reino da Fantasia (1985), O Mistério de Robin Hood (1990), Xuxa Gêmeas (2006) e O Mundo Encantado de Beto Carrero (2007), e atuou como ele mesmo na novela A História de Ana Raio e Zé Trovão, da Rede Manchete. Também fazia participações no programa Dedé e o Comando Maluco (SBT), do circo Beto Carrero World. Ficou conhecido pelo personagem caubói Beto Carrero, que ele encarnava desde 1970 e com o qual participou de filmes ao lado do humorista Renato Aragão e da apresentadora Xuxa. Também teve um quadro fixo no programa Domingo Legal (SBT). Beto Carrero morreu em 1 de fevereiro de 2008, aos 70 anos de idade, em São Paulo, após ser submetido a uma cirurgia cardíaca para correção de uma endocardite infecciosa, vindo a falecer por choque cardiogênico durante a cirurgia.

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
